Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov met with the leadership and head coaches of the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation. The Minister got acquainted with the new office of the federation.
First, the federation leadership informed the Minister about the activities and plans of the ASF. Later, the sports director and head coaches spoke about the preparation of national team members and upcoming competitions. The meeting also discussed the preparation for the upcoming Islamic Solidarity Games and the participation of our swimmers in this competition.
The meeting was attended by ASF President Zaur Aliyev, Vice Presidents Khalig Ildirimzade and Umid Abuzarli, Executive Committee member Ruslan Alakbarov, Secretary General Ogtay Atayev, Sports Director Pierre Lafontaine, ASF Advisor Rashad Abdurrahmanov, as well as the head coaches of the national teams in swimming, synchronized swimming and diving, Luka Gabrilo, Anton Melnikov and Oksana Pismenna, respectively.
Also, ASF President Zaur Aliyev introduced the newly appointed head coach of water polo Goran Sablic to the Minister of Youth and Sports. G.Sablic, who came at the invitation of the Azerbaijan Swimming Federation, will now work for the development of water polo in our country.
With more than thirty years of international experience, Goran Sablic has worked in countries such as Croatia, Iran, Turkey, Kuwait, Japan, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, France, New Zealand, Zimbabwe and Switzerland over the years.
The coach, who started his career in his native Croatia, which is considered one of the strongest water polo schools in the world, has contributed to the development of hundreds of young athletes in the international arena.
The Minister congratulated the new head coach on his appointment and wished him success in his future activities with the national team.
Let us remind you that Luka Gabrilo, a Swiss specialist attracted by ASF in October, was appointed the head coach of the national swimming team.
