Two stones intended for curling competitions at the Winter Paralympic Games in Italy have been stolen.
"Report" reports with reference to the Associated Press agency that the incident was discovered on March 2 during a scheduled inspection of equipment at the Olympic Stadium in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The stolen stones were previously used in the Olympic Games' double-mix tournament.
The World Curling Federation has confirmed that the incident has not affected the progress of the competition. The organization said that spare stones from the set are currently being used and they have been adjusted to match the others.
It should be noted that the wheelchair curling tournament started on March 4. The official opening of the Winter Paralympic Games, organized in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, will take place today. The competition will last until March 15.
