The European Fencing Championships continue in Genoa, Italy.
Idman.biz reports that Ruslan Hasanov, our fencer who defeated representatives of Luxembourg, Norway, Ukraine, and Austria in the group stage, qualified for the top 64 in the individual men's épée competition.
In the match for promotion to the top 32, Ruslan defeated British épée fencer James Gill with a score of 14:13, but lost to Czech Matyas Pavlik with a score of 13:15 in the next stage.
In the individual women's sabre competition, Sabina Karimova, who defeated her rivals from Poland, Belgium, and Austria in the group stage, lost to Ukrainian Daria Gontsova with a score of 12:15 in the play-off.
Palina Kaspiarovich and Zarifa Huseynova stopped the fight in the group stage.
Our national women's sabre team will participate in the team competition on June 18.
