Azerbaijani athletes have joined the "Crossing Europe for Fair Play and Peace" relay.
According to "Report", the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) reported this.
As part of the "Crossing Europe for Fair Play and Peace" initiative, which is being implemented on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the European Fair Play Movement (EFPM), Azerbaijani athletes have successfully completed the symbolic distance of 3659 km from Baku to Brussels.
The specified distance was collectively covered by 62 athletes representing various sports in the country (athletics - 2150 km, cycling 1000 km, mountaineering - 210 km, taekwondo - 174 km, wrestling - 85 km, swimming - 40 km).
The initiative was implemented with the joint organization of the NOC's Fair Play Commission and Athletes' Commission. The main goal of involving our athletes in the European relay was to promote values such as fair play, peace and mutual respect.
The project demonstrated not only sports skills, but also teamwork, solidarity and sportsmanship.
It should be noted that the project will end on May 19 with the World Fair Play Day to be held in Olympia, Greece.
