Azerbaijani athletes intend to turn their experience gained at the Winter Olympic Games into greater success in the coming years.
"Report" reports that Anar Baghirov, the chef de mission of the Azerbaijani team, said this in a statement to the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
He shared his thoughts on the XXV Winter Olympic Games hosted by Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo in Italy:
"As the chef-de-mission of the Azerbaijani team, I would like to state that this magnificent sports festival was rich in memorable events both in terms of organization and competition. Italy managed to organize this large-scale competition at a high level. Despite being held in two different centers, logistics and athlete comfort were ensured at the highest level. The closing ceremony of the Olympic Games was the culmination of this great unity and sports solidarity. These games once again showed that there is great potential for the development of winter sports, and we intend to turn our experience into greater success in the coming years."
It should be noted that Azerbaijani alpine skier Anastasia Papatoma competed in the slalom event. Based on the results of two attempts, the athlete finished 51st among 95 people with a result of 2:09:15 seconds.
Earlier, Azerbaijani figure skater Vladimir Litvintsev took the last place in the short program with 63.63 points in the competition of 29 athletes and stopped competing.
