The Italian prosecutor's office is investigating corruption in construction tenders related to the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Idman.biz reports that, according to the publication "Inside the Games", inspections are also being carried out in the Olympic Village project.
Searches are currently being carried out in offices and private homes, and arrest warrants have been issued for six people.
According to the source, the investigation is mainly focused on a large real estate construction project in the center of Milan and projects planned in the surrounding areas. The Olympic Village will be opened in one of these areas.
At least 74 people are being investigated as suspects in the case. Among them is the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala. He is alleged to have been involved in "hiding a conflict of interest" and "putting pressure on the building permit committee."
According to the newspaper "Corriere della Sera", the mayor has denied these charges.
It should be noted that the 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo from February 6-22.
