Ukrainian judokas have refused to participate in the World Championship due to the permission granted to Belarusian athletes to perform under their own flags. Sport24.az reports that, in protest against the International Judo Federation's (IJF) decision to allow Belarusian athletes to compete with state symbols, the Ukrainian Judo Federation decided not to send the national team to the World Championship.
The organization's statement reads: "The Ukrainian Judo Federation has been forced to officially make a decision not to send the national team to the World Championship. The Federation strongly condemns the IJF's decision and believes that this decision contradicts the fundamental principles of the global sports movement, such as fairness, responsibility, and solidarity."
It should be noted that the World Judo Championship will be held in Budapest from June 13-20. Russian athletes will compete in this competition under the IJF flag.
