The Judo Grand Prix tournament has started in Linz, Austria. Sport24.az reports that on the first day of the competition, a member of the Azerbaijan national team climbed to the highest step of the podium.
Ruslan Pashayev, competing in the 66 kg weight category, won a gold medal. On his way to the final, our judoka successively defeated Israeli representative Eran Fiks, Serbian Matija Jeremic, as well as Spaniards Adrian Nieto Chinarro and David Garcia Torne.
In the decisive match, Ruslan Pashayev defeated Brazilian Ronald Lima with the tsubame-gaeshi technique in the golden score section and became the champion.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team is represented by 7 judokas at the tournament in Linz.
