Three Azerbaijani judokas performed unsuccessfully on the first day of the World Championship held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
"Report" reports that they finished the competition without medals.
Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg) lost to Japanese Ryuju Nagayama in the 1/16 finals.
Leyla Aliyeva (48 kg) defeated Kurbanay Kurbanova (Turkmenistan) in the 1/32 finals, but lost to Laura Martinez (Spain) in the second match.
Konul Aliyeva lost to Maria Laborde (USA) in the 1/32 finals.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team went to the World Championship with 13 judokas (9 men, 4 women) in 10 weight categories. Our team will also compete in the mixed team competition.
