After the first day of the competition, Azerbaijan ranked second among men and third in the overall team score among 78 countries in the medal standings.
Balabay Agayev, competing in the -60 kg weight category, defeated Ukrainian representative Dilshot Khalmatov in the final and became the winner of this tournament for the third time in his career.
Ruslan Pashayev, who competed in the -66 kg weight category, defeated Italian athlete Valerio Accollini in the last seconds of the bronze medal match with a yuko score and took third place.
Note that tomorrow 5 more judokas will join the competition.
