Azerbaijani judokas' success at the Tashkent Grand Slam: Gamzatkhanov's lightning-fast victory, Fatiyev and Kotsoiev advance to the 1/4 finals

Azerbaijani judoka Jamal Gamzatkhanov made a great start on the last day of the "Grand Slam" tournament held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Idman.Biz reports that our athlete, competing in the +100 kg weight category, faced Indian Ritik Kumar in the 1/8 final stage. Gamzatkhanov did not give his opponent any chance and won with an ippon in just 15 seconds.

Thanks to this lightning-fast victory, our judoka made it to the 1/4 finals.

It should be noted that Zelim Kotsoiev and Murad Fatiyev are also representing our country in the 1/4 finals.

Idman.Biz reports that our athlete, competing in the 100 kg weight category, faced Georgian Tornike Poladishvili in his first match. Kotsoiev won confidently over his opponent and made it to the 1/4 finals.

It should be noted that Zelim Kotsoiev is considered one of the main favorites in this tournament. Currently, along with Murad Fatiyev, Zelim continues our country's medal hopes in the competition.

Idman.Biz reports that our athlete, competing in the 90 kg weight category, faced the host Umar Bozorov in the 1/8 final stage. Fatiyev, demonstrating great determination in the last seconds of the tense match, defeated his opponent and qualified for the 1/4 finals.

It should be noted that Murad Fatiyev had also managed to eliminate Romanian Vlad Visan before this stage.

Madina Kaisinova, who tested her strength in the +78 kg weight category in the women's competition, said goodbye to the tournament early. She lost to the local athlete, Uzbekistan representative Umida Nigmatova, in the first match and stopped fighting for the medal.

Ajdar Baghirov, who competed in the 100 kg weight category among men, also could not pass the first stage. Our judoka lost to Uzbek Ernazar Sarsenbayev and left the competition ahead of schedule.

Two of our athletes will compete on the tatami in the 100 kg weight category. Ajdar Baghirov will face local athlete Ernazar Sarsenbayev in the 1/16 finals, and Zelim Kotsoyev will face the winner of the pair Tornike Poladishvili (Georgia) - Bakhtovar Bobokhonov (Tajikistan) in the 1/8 finals.

In the heavyweight category (+100 kg), Jamal Gamzatkhanov will test Indian Ritik Kumar in the 1/8 finals. Kenan Nasibov will face the winner of the duel Gela Zaalishvili (Georgia) - Islombek Ravshankulov (Uzbekistan) in the same stage.
