The goal of the Azerbaijani national minifootball team at the World Championship to be held in Baku will be to win a gold medal. Sport24.az reports that this was stated by Orkhan Mammadov, President of the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation (AMF), in his statement to journalists.
He said that citizens will be able to spend their leisure time in the "Fan Zone" organized for the competition:
"This will further increase interest in the tournament. The final work is being done at the National Gymnastics Arena. It will be fully ready in a few days. We believe that the match between football legends on May 19 will also be welcomed by fans. The football community really wants that meeting."
The AMF president also touched upon the preparation of the team:
"The national team continues its preparations as well. We have participated in an international tournament before. Before the World Championship, we will play our last game against the team of the United Arab Emirates. Since the tournament is held in Baku, the expectations of the fans are high. As management, our expectations are the same. We want to be the winner of the competition. We have set this as a goal. But this is the World Championship. The competition is great. I think that getting into the "top 3" will be a great success for us."
It should be noted that the World Championship will be held at the National Gymnastics Arena from May 21 to June 1. The Azerbaijani national team will compete with Slovenia, Mauritania and Bahrain in Group A of the World Cup, which will be attended by 32 teams.
