The format of the Azerbaijan Cup 2025/2026 season has been announced.

Idman.biz reports that Sanan Abdullayev, Media and Marketing Director of the Professional Football League (PFL), informed "Report" about this.

The PFL official reminded that the main change in the tournament is related to the final match: "As the PFL, taking into account the experience of other countries, we decided to hold the final match earlier - on May 13. All teams participating in the leagues will participate in the cup competitions."

Abdullayev said that the representatives of the Second League will start the season in the Azerbaijan Cup from an early stage: "Then the winners will be joined by the First League teams and the teams that finished the Premier League in the lower stages last season. In the next stage, we will see the teams that finished the Premier League in the upper stages in the fight. Last season's winner "Sabah" will be in the 1st pot during the draw. The teams will compete according to the Premier League conditions. That is, for example, the First League teams will be able to use all the legionnaires in their squads in the main squad."

It should be noted that in the final of last season, "Sabah" defeated "Qarabag" with a score of 3:2 in extra time of the match, which ended in a draw (2:2) in regular time.
