Spanish referees have refused traditional gifts from Real Madrid since January of this year.
"Report" reports with reference to foreign media that the reason for the start of the protest action was the regular publication by the Madrid club's television of videos about the work of referees.
In the published videos, decisions that are not in favor of the "Royal Club" are questioned and sharply criticized every time.
The first to refuse the gifts were the referees who officiated the Spanish Super Cup matches held in Saudi Arabia - Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea and Jesus Gil Manzano. Subsequently, some referees who officiated in the country's championship and cup games took the same step.
According to local media, this action is carried out only at the initiative of the referees. That is, it has nothing to do with the position of the Referees Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, and it has not been agreed with the organization.
It should be noted that in many countries there has been a tradition for many years of giving club symbols to referees. These gifts are inexpensive items such as ordinary badges, pennants, towels and logoed shirts.
