Negotiations surrounding the ownership change of the Spanish football club "Sevilla" have taken an unexpected turn.
İdman.Biz reports that, according to Spanish media, 39-year-old defender and club alumnus Sergio Ramos has joined negotiations to acquire "Sevilla" and is leading his own investment group. It is reported that the offer from the group led by Ramos is the most financially advantageous among the options presented to shareholders.
Previously, an American consortium - a group represented by local entrepreneurs Antonio Lappi and Fede Quintero - was considered the main favorite to acquire the club. However, after a financial audit, the value of the shares in their offer was reduced, which led to the breakdown of negotiations. Against this background, the project involving Ramos has come to the fore, and the former captain of the Spanish national team is being considered as the main figure in a possible new management model.
It is noted that Ramos, who left the Mexican club "Monterrey" in December and is a free agent, has not ended his football career and retains the possibility of returning to Europe. If the ownership change takes place, his third return to "Sevilla" is not ruled out.
Recall that Sergio Ramos played for "Sevilla" at the beginning of his career, and then made a one-year return in the 2023/2024 season.
