The "Sabail" club intends to compete in the Azerbaijan I League with 2 or 3 legionnaires.
Idman.biz reports that the head coach of the capital's representative, Elvin Mammadov, made a statement to "Report" about this.
The specialist said that they want to give more chances to local players: "We have already started preparations for the new season for 10 days. Everything is in order. Our team is slowly being completed. We are waiting for 2-3 football players. After they arrive, we will be fully ready for the new season. These football players will be front-line players. There are also players we are negotiating with from the locals. But since it is not official, I cannot reveal their names. We intend to play with a maximum of 2 or 3 legionnaires in the next season."
E.Mammadov said that they will hold their home games in the championship at "ASCO Arena": "We will play our matches at "ASCO Arena". We are currently continuing training here. What is written in the press does not reflect the truth that much. Everything is in order."
The head coach also touched upon the abolition of lower age groups after the team left the Premier League: "I have previously worked in the U-19 team of this club. We have involved 3 people from there in the squad. We would like all those children to stay. They were our future. But it didn't happen. Each of them will play in new clubs, there are also teams they have agreed with. I hope that we will return to the Premier League again and involve those young people in the squad."
It should be noted that according to the regulations of the I League, teams are allowed to use the services of a maximum of three legionnaires in matches. Clubs can attract 7 foreign football players to their squads during the season. The new season in the I League will start on September 11.
