Referees of the "Espanyol" – "Real" match were punished
The head of the Spanish Referees Committee, Luis Medina Cantalejo, held a meeting with the referees of the La Liga 22nd round match between "Espanyol" and "Real". This was reported by AS.
Following the meeting, the main referee of the match, Alexandro Muniz Ruiz, and Iglesias Villanueva, who worked in VAR, were temporarily disqualified for gross errors.
According to the chairman of the committee, the main referee should have sent off defender Carlos Romero for a rough foul against Real Madrid striker Kilian Mbappe.
It should be noted that Alexandro Muniz Ruiz only showed Romero a yellow card after a rough foul from behind against Mbappe in the visitors' counterattack. After the match, the player himself apologized to the Frenchman for the rough play. "Real" appealed to the Spanish Royal Football Federation and the Supreme Sports Council with an official complaint about the poor work of the referees.
