Former head coach of England's Chelsea club, Enzo Maresca, refused the 16.1 million euro (32 million AZN) compensation due to him for the early termination of his contract.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to "The Sun" that the 45-year-old specialist did not discuss the issue of compensation because he believed that the club's management had undermined his reputation in the team.
Maresca did not raise this issue despite the terms of the contract, which was intended to last until 2029 and had the right to be extended for another season.
The source notes that one of the reasons for the coach's serious dissatisfaction was the allegations that he was allegedly ready to risk the health of the players and release them on the field despite the doctors' recommendations.
In addition, there were disagreements between Maresca and the Chelsea management regarding the starting lineup and substitutions.
It should be reminded that Chelsea announced Enzo Maresca's dismissal on January 1. The Italian specialist had been working for the London club since the summer of 2024.
