Emin Amrullayev, a member of the "Neftchi" Board of Directors, commented on the abolition of the legionnaire limit in the Misli Premier League in the 2025/2026 season.
According to "Report", he spoke about this at an event where a cooperation agreement was signed with "Palms Sports".
E.Amrullayev said that it is difficult to make predictions:
"We need to see the results first. The abolition of the legionnaire limit leads to the league becoming more competitive and the level of the championship rising. Local football players are comfortable with the introduction of the limit. In any case, I see this as a positive decision. But we will see the results together. I would like to cite the Azerbaijan Basketball League as an example. The quality of the game has increased."
It should be noted that a 5-year sponsorship agreement was signed today between "Neftchi" PFK and "Palms Sports", which belongs to "International Holding Company" (IHC).
It should be reminded that the current limit in the Premier League is in the form of "7 legionnaires + 4 local football players". At the meeting of the AFFA Executive Committee held on February 3, a decision was made to abolish the legionnaire limit from the 2025/2026 season. Also, a large fee was introduced for the registration of foreign football players.
