Benfica head coach Jose Mourinho has announced that he told the Lisbon club's management that he does not want to sign a new contract at the moment.
Idman.Biz reports that the media previously reported that the Portuguese coach was close to moving to Real Madrid. Mourinho's current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2027.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano quotes Mourinho's words on his social media page X: "On Wednesday, Benfica sent me a new contract offer. But I said "Not now." We'll see on Sunday. It's important for my future next week."
Romano said that Mourinho's negotiations with Real Madrid are progressing and have reached the final stage.
