More footballers identified for participating in illegal betting platforms in Italy

The list of footballers who could be punished for betting and gambling on illegal platforms in Italy has been updated.

According to "Report", the list was compiled by Corriere della Sera.

Milan prosecutors are investigating 12 players who played in Serie A between 2021 and 2023. They are accused of betting and playing online poker.

The list of suspects was formed after the footballers' smartphones were checked. These are Weston McKennie, Mattia Perin, Angel Di Maria, Leandro Paredes, Alessandro Florenzi, Nicolo Zaniolo and several other players.

It is noted that not all of them placed sports bets on illegal platforms. Some played online poker and casino games. Those in this category are less likely to be disqualified. According to the law, they can be fined a maximum of 20,000 euros.

The illegal bookmakers that the footballers played at also unofficially advertised Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Fagioli, who have been under investigation for a long time.
