The likelihood of Mateusz Koxalski, the goalkeeper of "Qarabag," transferring to Dortmund's "Borussia" has weakened. According to Sport24.az, the German club has signed a new contract with reserve goalkeeper Alexander Meyer, which has significantly complicated the Polish goalkeeper's transfer prospects.
The Dortmund representative has extended the agreement with 34-year-old Meyer until June 2027. The goalkeeper, who has a high reputation in the locker room, preferred to stay in the team as a substitute for Gregor Kobel, despite offers from Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga clubs.
Meyer's new contract and the fact that main goalkeeper Kobel will stay in the team until 2028 reduce Koxalski's chances of moving to the German giant. "Corriere dello Sport" reported that the German club, which was allegedly interested in the Polish goalkeeper, took the first step.
In this context, Koxalski's recent statement to Weszlo.com is also noteworthy:
"I would not go to any club just to get a good salary and sit on the bench," said the 25-year-old goalkeeper.
This season, Koxalski has kept a clean sheet in 5 out of 15 games with "Qarabag." The Aghdam club is the leader of the Premier League and is ranked 19th among 36 teams in the Champions League table.
The "Qarabag" management does not plan to sell the goalkeeper for less than 7 million euros. Koxalski's contract with the club is valid until mid-2027, and there is an option to extend it for another 1 year.
