Barcelona president Joan Laporta has issued a statement following allegations of fraud. It was previously reported that an investigation was underway against the head of the Catalan club over allegations of fraud amounting to 4.7 million euros. Sport24.az reports that Laporta, speaking to Marca about the matter, denied the allegations:
"On May 26, 2023, the plaintiffs filed a fraud complaint against a group of people I am a member of, despite the fact that I had no involvement in the investments they claimed. After the statement of claim was filed, the judge rejected it because he knew that no crime had been committed."
It should be noted that it was previously reported that from 2016 to 2018, Laporta and several other individuals owned a company in which investors invested private capital. Some of them went to court because the company did not return their investments.
