Iran's national team's participation in the 2026 World Cup is in jeopardy with only 28 days left until the tournament.
According to Idman.Biz, citing RMC Sport, the president of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, has expressed serious concern that none of the national team members have yet received US visas. The situation is further complicated by increasing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the absence of diplomatic relations between Tehran and Washington since 1980.
The head of the Iranian Football Federation has announced an important meeting with FIFA in the coming days, where he will demand a guarantee that the visa issue will be resolved. Despite FIFA President Gianni Infantino's assurances that Iran's matches will be held in the US as planned, no real progress has been made in obtaining the necessary documents.
The team is expected to travel to Ankara next Monday, May 18, to have their fingerprints taken and begin their pre-tournament training camp. Further delays could jeopardize Iran's participation in the tournament.
