Barcelona and Netherlands midfielder Frenkie de Jong has suffered a knee injury while on international duty and will be unable to play for up to four months. The player has already returned to the Catalan club with the injury.
Idman.Biz reports this according to "Marca".
A exact diagnosis has not been made yet; De Jong will undergo additional examinations in the coming days. The club is seriously concerned about the player's condition.
Last season, the midfielder missed about two months of the decisive period due to a thigh muscle injury, from late February to early April. He had previously suffered two injuries to his heel, missing a total of six months and 31 games. If his prognosis is confirmed and his recovery takes four months, De Jong will not be able to return until November and will miss a significant part of the start of the season.
Netherlands were eliminated from the 2026 World Cup after losing to Morocco 1:1 (2:3 on penalties) in the round of 16.
