Luis Rubiales, the former head of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), who kissed female footballer Jennifer Hermoso on the lips during the awards ceremony, may face 2.5 years in prison.
"Report" informs that the court has started its work on the matter, and the process will continue until February 19.
The prosecutor's office has requested that the former head of the RFEF be deprived of his liberty for a period of 2.5 years in this case.
It should be noted that on August 20, 2023, the Spanish national team defeated the England team (1:0) and became the winner of the world championship for the first time. During the award ceremony, Rubiales hung the medal around Hermoso's neck and kissed the footballer on the lips.
Later, the Disciplinary Committee of the International Football Federation decided to temporarily remove Rubiales from the post of RFEF president. After the footballer's complaint, the prosecutor's office opened a criminal case.
