European leagues will officially be given the right to hold one game per season in another country. Sport24.az, citing The Guardian, reports that FIFA is working on this change and wants to limit each country to a total of five games in the territory of another country.
In the 2025/26 season, La Liga and Serie A clubs wanted to hold their games in Miami and Perth, but were rejected by local authorities. According to the new protocol, any attempt to hold an official game in another country must be approved by the federations of both parties, after which an application must be submitted to FIFA.
FIFA hopes that this reform will come into effect next season.
