A fight broke out on the field after the final whistle. Argentine defender Nauel Molina punched Spanish captain Rodrini in the chest. An argument ensued between the two and other players, including Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes, joined in. Paredes first aggressively grabbed Spanish defender Erik Garcia by the neck and then attacked midfielder Gavi, who was trying to defend his teammate.
In addition, Argentine coach Roberto Ayala argued with Spanish midfielder Daniel Olmo after the final whistle and then hit him in the face.
