The Portuguese head coach of the Azerbaijani national team, Fernandu Santos, has reacted to the death of Diogo Jota, a footballer from the English club Liverpool.
According to "Report", the 70-year-old specialist made a statement to "A Bola" newspaper about this.
He called his compatriot "a great person":
"I can pray a lot for him. It is difficult to talk about a footballer at such times. He debuted in the national team when I was the head coach - at the age of 22. He remained in the shadow of the world's best player, Cristiano Ronaldo, but he always found his place. He was eager to play for the national team. He could not go to the World Cup in Qatar due to injury. Right now, the only thing I can think about is his family, his wife and the three children he left behind."
It should be noted that D.Jota won the Nations League twice with the Portuguese national team. He also won the English Championship with Liverpool. The striker died in a car accident.
