The president of the Argentine club was filmed in connection with a possible bribe.
Idman.biz reports that after a video broadcast on "Canal 9", the president of the "San Lorenzo" club, Marcelo Moretti, was accused of taking a bribe.
Moretti was caught on a hidden camera taking $25,000 from a young player's mother to sign a professional contract.
In an interview with "Tyc Sports", the club leader stated that he did not take a bribe and that the money was a donation: "There are those who want to endanger me. They have been blackmailing me since last year. The money was a donation and went directly to the club's cash register.
I have been putting money into the club from my own pocket for years. "San Lorenzo" is my life."
The businesswoman Maria Jose Scottini, who gave the money, also voiced the same version.
As a result, Moretti announced that he was resigning from the post of president of "San Lorenzo" in order to "protect the club". The Argentine Football Association (AFA) announced that it is investigating the incident.
