"Abolishing the legionnaire limit is a good decision." This was stated by former Azerbaijani national team footballer Ceyhun Sultanov in an interview with Sport24.az.
The 45-year-old veteran footballer shared his views on the decisions made by the AFFA Executive Committee the previous day:
"I think these are the right decisions. Various decisions have been made so far, but none have had any effect. Now it's normal. If we approach the work correctly, we can achieve results. It is imperative to implement the decisions accurately. What's bad about having 12 teams? Abolishing the legionnaire limit is also good. Normal criteria have also been set there. I think this will have its effect."
It should be noted that from the 2025/2026 season, the number of teams in the Azerbaijan Premier League will increase to 12. The legionnaire limit in the championship will be abolished. 11 foreign players can play on the field at the same time.
