"Bordeaux" football club has been excluded from French professional leagues - this decision was approved by the National Control and Management Directorate (DNCG).
Sport.Biz reports this with reference to the newspaper "L'Équipe".
The reason is financial: the investment fund "Sparta Capital" was unable to raise the 10 million euros needed for the club to participate in the next season. Attempts to find another investor were also unsuccessful.
Therefore, "Bordeaux" will drop to the sixth league of French football. In addition, the club will face bankruptcy: a meeting of the commercial court is scheduled soon, and a decision to close the club may be made by the end of the month.
"Bordeaux", which has won the French championship six times, lost its professional status in 2024 due to financial problems. The team has played in the fourth league for the last two seasons and will now drop to an even lower league.
