A new record has been set in the history of Azerbaijani football.
According to Idman.Biz, the teams "Sabah", "Qarabağ" and "Zirə" have extended the winning streak of local teams in European competitions to seven consecutive matches.
The historic achievement was officially recorded after Sabah's victory over the Finnish club "KuPS" in the first match of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.
This means that Azerbaijani teams have won all of their first seven matches in European competitions this season, scoring a total of 17 goals and conceding only one.
Thus, local clubs have surpassed the previous record. The previous best streak was six consecutive victories in the 2017/18 season, which was also achieved after six matches covering two qualifying rounds.
The successful performance of Azerbaijani representatives also has a positive impact on the UEFA country coefficients table.
