Aston Villa took the lead in the first minute of the match: striker Ollie Watkins scored. In the 17th minute, Newcastle defender Fabian Schär equalized. In the 64th minute, Ian Maatsen put the hosts ahead again. In the 73rd minute, the guests' player Dan Burn scored an own goal. Two minutes later, the "lions" midfielder Amadou Onana made the score 4:1.
After this victory, Aston Villa has 57 points. The Birmingham team has risen to sixth place in the EPL standings. Newcastle is in third place with 59 points.
