Aqil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team consisting of football players under the age of 17, was dissatisfied with the refereeing in the test match against Montenegro.
Idman.biz reports that the specialist himself stated this in an interview with Report.
Speaking about the victory of the team in the preparation match during the training camp in Montenegro, Nabiyev said that the chief referee often made mistakes: "I have been working for the national team for many years and preparing teams from lower age groups for games. I have never seen such shameful refereeing. Despite the unfair decisions, we defeated both Montenegro and the chief referee. As for the game, the Montenegrin national team is made up of good football players. Their respective age group championship has already started. As a team, they have finished their last 3 games with a victory. They defeated the national teams of Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania. The opposing team was much taller in height. However, we prepared well for the match and analyzed the opponent correctly. The meeting started as we wanted. Despite the fact that the opponent was trying to put more pressure because they were the home team. The course of the match showed that we can get out to attacks well. Thank God, we won in the end."
He spoke about the condition of the football players in the training camp: "We have been together for training camp for about 10 days. We had several football players playing in Spain who had not trained for more than a month. Special training sessions were held for them for about 1 week to prepare them for the team's training camp. After the summer break, there are problems with the physical preparation of football players when they go to the training camp. As you know, special devices are used to measure the physical condition of football players. We observed that there is a negative gap between the last training camp and the current one. Most of them suffer from the lack of game practice. Because the championships of football players of this age group have not started."
Nabiyev said that he believes that players from the lower age groups will be involved in the main national team in the near future: "The U-16 and U-17 national teams are already participating in joint training sessions. The results we have achieved in recent games are encouraging. The sense of self-confidence in the team has increased. The football players quickly learned what the coaching staff wanted. I have been working in the U-17 team since March. It would have been better if I had been here earlier. However, we have formed a very good team. I hope that the football players in the squad will become members of the U-21 and main national team in the near future."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani U-17 national team, which is in a training camp in Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, won the test match against the home team with a score of 1:0. The national team will hold its second test match against the same team today.
