AFFA Referees Committee Chairman Frank de Bleeckere has evaluated the training camp organized for referees in Turkey.
The expert emphasized the importance of the camp in his statement to "Report".
He said that physical tests were taken at the end of the camp:
"The training camp for Premier League referees was very important for preparing for the second half of the championship. Our conditions were very good. Sunny weather, very good natural turf football fields, and we stayed in a hotel with all kinds of facilities for the referees. According to the program, physical training and technical sessions were held twice a day. Internationally renowned trainers were invited to the course - UEFA expert Leif Lindberg, VAR expert Kristof Dierick, UEFA's head coach for physical training Werner Helsen, and UEFA convention coordinator Leonid Kaloshin. We worked a lot with a group of professional referees during the week. Physical tests were also taken at the end of the camp".
The Belgian committee chairman also emphasized which sessions were organized for the referees:
"Technical sessions were about the line of intervention between the referee and VAR, penalty episodes, consecutive decision-making, and so on. We organized integrated training sessions on the field with physical training coaches, we worked on video decision-making under time constraints, and strength training in the gym. Each training session was combined with cognitive skills to meet the requirements of modern football refereeing".
De Bleeckere said that young and promising referees managed 4 games in Turkey:
"Our young and promising referees managed 4 friendly matches. This was a great opportunity for the referees to gain international experience. I evaluate the performance of our referees well. I returned to Baku with positive feelings. It was a high-level training camp in terms of physical and technical aspects, and the referees also approached their work professionally. The referees are ready for the second part of the championship. As the head of the AFFA Referees Committee, I would like to express my gratitude to those who organized this training camp".
It should be noted that the Turkey training camp of Azerbaijani referees was organized from January 6 to 12.
