"Sabah" has the potential to win the Azerbaijan Cup.
This was stated by Adil Shukurov, the former head coach of "Zira" and "Kapaz" clubs, in an interview with "Report".
The former member of the Azerbaijani national team spoke about the return matches of the semi-final stage of the country's cup:
"Araz-Nakhchivan" started the game against "Garabagh" very well. However, the team failed to take advantage of the opportunities. Instead, the opponent withstood the attacks and scored the goals they wanted in the second half by showing a spectacular game. In the Premier League game, "Araz-Nakhchivan" lost a lot of strength in the match against "Turan Tovuz". Their squads are not wide enough to replace tired players with other players. I think that is why Nakhchivan residents could not resist until the end".
The expert stated that "Neftchi" performed very well in the match against "Sabah", but the game was not reflected in the score:
"After a long time, I was witnessing such a good game by "Neftchi" under the leadership of Samir Abasov. The team was very eager, they wanted to win. They equalized the score shortly after conceding the first goal. But they could not score the second goal. Sometimes such things happen in football. You can even concede the second goal even if you play well. I would like to specifically emphasize Emin Mahmudov's performance. He proved that he can still play consistently. Emin just needs to be motivated to be able to benefit his team."
Adil Shukurov said that the final match of the Azerbaijan Cup will be interesting:
"I think we will witness an interesting game in the final. Although everyone knows the strength of "Garabagh". But "Sabah" can also take the cup to its museum. It should be taken into account that the final consists of 1 meeting and anything can happen at any moment. "Sabah" has the potential to win the Azerbaijan Cup".
It should be noted that in the return matches of the semi-final stage, "Garabagh" defeated "Araz-Nakhchivan" with a score of 3:0 (first match - 0:1). In the match "Sabah" - "Neftchi", the parties differed once each (first game - 2:1).
The final match of the Azerbaijan Cup will be held on May 31 at the Sumgayit city stadium named after Mehdi Huseynzade.
