The Senegal national team will have to change the design of their uniform for the 2026 World Cup.
Sport.Biz reports, citing journalist Mikki Junior, that FIFA has demanded the removal of the star from the team's emblem.
This is due to the rule that only World Cup titles can be represented by stars on uniforms in FIFA tournaments.
The Senegal team added the star to their uniform after winning the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to the source, the football governing body stated that the uniform does not comply with the rules of the 2026 World Cup and demands changes before the start of the tournament.
Earlier, the Egyptian national team faced a similar situation, with FIFA requesting the removal of stars from their uniform that symbolized their Africa Cup of Nations titles.
Note that Senegal will compete in Group I of the 2026 World Cup against France, Norway, and Iraq.
