Police were called to an incident in the West End area of London on Saturday night.
İdman.Biz reports that, according to BBC Sport, the incident involved a 29-year-old international footballer who has been arrested by police.
The footballer is suspected of two counts of assault and one count of affray. The victim was taken to hospital. Police say his injuries are not life-threatening.
The footballer has now been released on bail and investigations are ongoing.
Under UK law, the name of the arrested person can only be released after charges have been brought. This rule has been in place since the Leveson Inquiry in 2012, and identification is only permitted in exceptional circumstances.
