The Azerbaijani men's chess team has risen to second place at the European Championship held in Batumi (Georgia). Sport24.az reports that our team defeated Hungary in the VII round.
The match ended with a 3:1 victory for our team. Our team, with 11 points, is second with 11 points. The team consisting of Shahriyar Mammadyarov, Rauf Mammadov, Aydin Suleymanli, Muhammad Muradli, and Eltaj Safarli previously defeated Slovakia (3:1), Poland (2.5:1.5) and Armenia (2.5:1.5), and drew with Czech Republic (2:2), Netherlands (2:2) and Greece (2:2).
The women's team, consisting of Ulviyya Fataliyeva, Govhar Beydullayeva, Khanim Balajayeva, Gulnar Mammadova and Ayan Allahverdiyeva, lost to the hosts - 1.5:2.5. Our team previously defeated Slovenia (4:0), Hungary (2.5:1.5) and Armenia (3:1). The team, which drew with France and Greece (both 2:2), lost to Germany - 1.5:2.5. Our women's team is currently in 10th place with 8 points.
