Azerbaijani chess players Eltaj Safarli and Gulnar Mammadova have been awarded for distinguishing themselves on their boards at the European Team Chess Championship held in Batumi, Georgia.
Idman.Biz reports, citing the press service of the Chess Federation, that Eltaj Safarli was awarded a gold medal for taking first place on the third board.
The chess player surpassed all his colleagues thanks to 3 wins and 4 draws.
Gulnar Mammadova took third place on the fourth board. The chess player, who won 6 victories in 8 rounds, was presented with a bronze medal at the closing ceremony.
At the event, members of the Azerbaijani men's chess team, who took second place in the European Championship, were awarded a silver medal, diploma and cup.
It should be noted that the awards were presented by the President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, Vice-President of the International Chess Federation, Mahir Mammadov.
