Two Azerbaijani boxers have qualified for the 1/4 finals of the World Cup held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.
The press service of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federation told "Report" about this.
Two boxers of the Azerbaijani national team started the competition, which was attended by about 300 athletes from 30 countries, with a victory.
Mahammadali Gasimzade (60 kg) defeated Dongwan Yang (South Korea) in the 1/8 finals. The boxer won with a score of 5:0 (29:28, 30:27, 29:28, 30:27, 29:28). He will fight Johan Aguilera (Dominican Republic) in his second match.
Mahammad Abdullayev (+90 kg) eliminated Byeknur Khalini (Mongolia). The national team member won with a score of 5:0 (30:26, 30:25, 30:26, 30:25, 30:25) and advanced to the 1/4 finals. At this stage, Abdullayev will face Taeung Yu (South Korea), who was exempt from the first match.
Both matches will be held on July 3.
It should be noted that Emil Gurbanaliyev and Anar Babanli represent the country as referees in the World Cup, in which 11 Azerbaijani boxers participate.
