The "Muhamet Malo" wrestling ranking tournament continues in Tirana, the capital of Albania.
"Report" informs that 2 of the 4 Azerbaijani wrestlers who competed on the fourth day of the competition reached the podium.
Although Murad Mammadov in the 63 kg weight category lost to his Iranian opponent in the 1/8 finals, the other two representatives performed successfully and reached the finals.
Ziya Babashov successively defeated athletes from Albania, Iran and Kazakhstan, and Sakit Guliyev defeated wrestlers from the USA, Kazakhstan and Norway and faced each other in the decisive match. Although a 1:1 draw was recorded in the match between the two Azerbaijani wrestlers, Ziya Babashov won and won the gold medal of the tournament, while Sakit Guliyev won the silver medal based on the first point principle.
Mahammad Shukruzade, who competed in the 67 kg weight category, lost in the 1/4 finals, but participated in a consolation match as his opponent advanced to the finals. Although he defeated the representative of Ecuador, he lost to the Georgian athlete in the bronze medal match and finished the competition without a medal.
Thus, the number of medals won by Azerbaijani wrestlers in the ranking tournament has reached 6.
