Asif Shiraliyev, who was named the best referee of the "Muhamet Malo" ranking tournament held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, and awarded a special prize, considers this as respect for Azerbaijani wrestling refereeing.
The international wrestling referee emphasized that he felt responsible.
"The tournament was organized at a high level and was a strong competition. The evaluation of my performance at such a prestigious tournament by the Albanian Wrestling Federation was a great source of responsibility and pride for me. I value this award as a sign of respect and trust in Azerbaijani refereeing," he said in a statement to report.az.
The chairman of the Referees Committee of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation also provided information about his functions in the competition:
"As the head of the mat, the approval of final decisions, the assessment of controversial episodes, and the coordination of the refereeing team were my direct responsibility. I tried to perform this task based on the principles of high professionalism and objectivity."
It should be noted that the award for the best referee of the tournament, which was held from February 25 to March 1, was presented to our compatriot by Sahit Prizreni, the president of the Albanian Wrestling Federation.
