The creation of the academy in Baku is part of the long-term development strategy of the Azerbaijan Billiard Federation (ABF).
This was stated by Mir Azad Aliyev, ABF Marketing Director, in an interview with "Report".
He shared his thoughts on the organization's creation of the Billiard Academy:
"This initiative was implemented to develop the sport of billiards professionally in the country and to create modern and permanent training conditions for the national team. The increasing interest in this sport and the involvement of the younger generation in this field over the years have prompted us to work in a more systematic and sustainable way. The establishment of the academy is also a real indicator of our intention to achieve stronger results in the international arena."
The director said that several athletes have been involved in the academy:
"Currently, athletes of different age groups are involved in the training processes at the Billiard Academy. Among them are both members of the national team and promising young people. In addition, special programs have been prepared for beginners, and registration in this direction is ongoing. Interest in billiards has been growing in Azerbaijan in recent years, and this makes us happy. However, there is still much work to be done to reach wider audiences and promote this sport in the regions as well. Our main goal is to present billiards not only as entertainment but also as a serious sport. The academy's activities are a serious step in this direction."
The federation official also spoke about the upcoming goals:
"Our main goal is to achieve success in international tournaments and represent Azerbaijan properly in the world billiard community. There are several important international championships ahead, and our athletes are seriously preparing for these competitions. At the same time, identifying young and talented players and bringing them to a professional level is also among our priorities. We are working hard both as a federation and as an academy to achieve these goals."
