Mercedes driver George Russell has shared interesting thoughts on the innovations that the new technical regulations, which will be implemented in Formula 1 from 2026, will bring to racing.
Idman.Biz reports that the British driver said that the racing style will be completely different due to the energy management requirements of the new power units. Recalling that 50% of the engine power will come from batteries from 2026, Russell emphasized that the issue of energy recovery will be a major test for drivers.
"It will be a very interesting game. Although it is easy to recover energy in some laps, it will create a big challenge on roads with long straights. Different steering behaviors and energy distribution tactics of drivers will overshadow aerodynamic stress," Russell noted.
The experienced pilot added that different driving styles will come to the fore, especially on fast tracks such as Melbourne and Jeddah, and that this promises more interesting competition for fans.
It should be noted that the new rules envisage cars being more agile but more dependent on battery power.
