At a time when clubs are strengthening their squads, "Neftchi" may part ways with another football player. Sport24.az reports that we are talking about the defender of the capital club, Yuri Matias.
The 30-year-old Brazilian touched upon interesting points in an interview with Romanian journalist Marian Codir. Yuri, whose contract with "Neftchi" will expire at the end of the season, said that he is positive about returning to Romania. He answered the journalist's question "Would you like to return to Romania?" as follows:
"I can't say no! If there are discussions regarding the teams I played for, I would go back. Especially since I felt good there. Why not? I never close the door and anything is possible in football."
The defender also spoke about his contract with "Neftchi": "There are currently six months left until the end of the contract. The club contacted me to extend the contract period. But in the end, we couldn't agree. The issue is still open. Other teams are also interested. I guess I will stay in "Neftchi" until the summer and then leave freely."
It should be noted that Yuri Matias, who transferred to "Neftchi" in the summer of 2023, will have his contract with "Neftchi" expire this summer.
