The head coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps, has announced that he may make changes to the starting lineup for the match against Iraq in the second round of Group I of the 2026 World Cup.
Sport.Biz reports that the match will take place on June 23 at the "Lincoln Financial Field" stadium in Philadelphia.
"This is a matter of managing the team. It's not about taking one player's place and giving it to another. The priority is the readiness of the players, but this does not prevent us from setting other goals for that match. The starting lineup that played against Senegal cannot play every match. The team has about 20 players at its disposal, so I may have to make changes," Deschamps said.
The French national team leads Group I with three points after defeating Senegal 3-1 in the first round. The Iraqi team has not yet scored any points and is in fourth place in the tournament standings.
