- At the next meeting of the Supervisory Board of the "Sumgayit" club, it was decided to sign a new 2.5-year contract with you. What are your impressions?
- Of course, my impressions are pleasant. I believe that the work we have done will be successful. Our goal is to bring "Sumgayit" to the highest levels we can and make the fans happy. The management's high appreciation of our work can only make us proud.
- Was the extension of the contract period expected for you?
- I was ready for the new offer. We talked to the management and reached an agreement. I believe that the new contract will be beneficial for both parties.
- Your contract will expire at the end of the 2027/2028 season. What will be your goals with "Sumgayit" during this time?
- We want to finish the current season in the highest position we can. Our new goals will be clear after new negotiations. We will sit down with the management again in the summer and talk. We will determine at that time which positions we will fight for. All these processes take time. If we want to be successful, we have to climb step by step.
- "Sumgayit" scored 20 points in 18 games in the first half of the season, and 13 points fell on the period when you were the head coach. How do you associate the successful performance after your arrival to the team?
- Outsiders can say whether the team is performing successfully or not. Maybe it is not right for me to talk about it. We lost in the first match as the head coach of "Sumgayit". However, I said that I know very well which team I came to. There are potential football players in the team. Our players proved this until the winter break. God willing, things will go as we want until the end of the current season. We try to do our best.
- How is the team preparing for the second half of the season during the winter break?
- We have already started preparations. We train twice a day. We have no injured players. Two players left the team. One of them is Rahim Sadikhov, the other is Jordan Rezabala. Rahim's departure has been officially confirmed. Rezabala is not yet certain.
- To what extent will the departure of both players negatively affect "Sumgayit"?
- Rahim Sadikhov is a strong football player. But we had to part ways. I believe that his transfer to "Turan Tovuz" will bring success to his career. I can't say anything about Rezabala's departure because it has not been clarified. Maybe we were able to get him back. There are other players in the team.
- Which countries are you thinking of transferring players from?
- There are players from almost every country. But there is no definite conversation in the middle. We hope that we will not be mistaken in our choices. There are no local football players among them. It is very difficult to find a local football player in the current situation. Our main desire is to strengthen the attacking position.
- Starting from February 24, AFFA will organize a UEFA PRO category license course for coaches. Will you attend those courses?
- Of course. I currently have category A. After studying, I will get a PRO license.
