South Africa's midfielder Temba Zvane has been banned for three games after being red carded in the 2026 World Cup Group A match against Mexico (0:2).
The player entered the game as a substitute in the 61st minute and was ejected 23 minutes later for rough play against Mexican midfielder Roberto Alvarado. Zvane punched his opponent in the face.
As a result, Temba will miss the group stage matches against the Czech Republic and South Korea, and will also be unable to participate in South Africa's first playoff match. South Africa is currently in fourth place in Group A without earning a single point.
